Lights of the Lakes is a promotional site dedicated to my Great Lakes lighthouse slide show of the same name. This show has been presented over 80 times in the past 25 years. Although it’s had a long run, it evolves constantly and is never the same twice. This home page excerpt briefly describes the show:
Lights of the Lakes is an hour-long live slide presentation featuring the lighthouse photography of Phillip L. Block. The Great Lakes Lighthouses shown are situated on the shores and islands of Lakes Michigan and Superior. Recurring subordinate themes include lighthouse technology, both past and present, and shipwrecks that occurred when the technology failed.
The show, presented to over 4,000 people to date, consists of over 200 photographs, including portraits of over 50 different Great Lakes Lighthouses. It is accompanied by music and sound effects.
The Lights of the Lakes web site is designed to provide all necessary information to potential site hosts. The site features:
– Show description
– Presenter biography
– Sample promotional items created by past show hosts
– Testimonials written by past show hosts
– An integrated blog
– Links to related sites, such as Lightstations.com, my lighthouse photo gallery site.
– Social media sharing buttons
Lights of the Lakes is a commercially-hosted WordPress site. It is a single-purpose site which strives to do its limited mission exceptionally well. It is small, fast, and tightly written.
