Exploring Stevens Point

As the locals put it, it’s #StePo. For the rest of us, it’s Stevens Point, a major central Wisconsin city. StePo was our last overnight stop on a recently-completed Northwoods adventure trip with a friend. Our trip took us first to Oshkosh, where we visited M. Schettl Sales & Oddity Park. From there, it was on to Exploring Wausau. The next leg of the trip took us further north for a Rhinelander Getaway. When it came time to head for home, we made our way south and found ourselves Exploring Stevens Point. On our first day there, we visited a vintage book shop and galleries on Main Street in downtown StePo. We also found several murals on buildings. We enjoyed dinner at the venerable Hilltop Pub & Grill. After overnighting at the Country Inn & Suites hotel, the following day we toured the Sculpture Park before making our way back home.

Downtown Murals

Stevens Point is awash with a fascinating array of murals and painted artwork on downtown buildings and windows. Several honor historic and prominent figures in the city’s past. Here are some of the artistic expressions that appeared in my camera’s viewfinder.

Hilltop Pub & Grill

While in Stevens Point, we dined at the venerable Hilltop Pub & Grill. This restaurant displays logos and artifacts from various Wisconsin breweries, starring the signature brand of StePo, Point.

Sculpture Park

The last stop on our Northwoods Adventure Trip was a visit to StePo’s Sculpture Park. This unique attraction is set in a wooded area. Paths lead to the sculptures throughout the park.
