The Barker Mansion

During a recent weekend trip to Michigan City, Indiana, I had an opportunity to visit the magnificent Barker Mansion on an overcast November afternoon. This spectacular 19th century edifice was built by James Barker, who made his fortune building railroad freight cars during and after the Civil War era. Over 90% of the furniture and artifacts in the mansion are still the property of the Barker estate. For the full story, visit the Barker Mansion website.

As a lifelong photographer, I can never resist the opportunity to take pictures of the splendor on display at historic sites like this. The images below show what caught my eye at this location.
